An amazing effort put in by all the dancers, crews and everyone else … it was just purely amazing.
Also a BIG Congratulations goes out to “Mini Me” for winning the Xbox 360 Signed by the Pussy Cat Dolls and becoming Stomp the Nard’s first Undefeated Battle Veteren.

Hey, Angelo, Tell me a bit about how Stomp The Nard started?
Basically, when the first Stomp the Nard kicked off it was just a chance for me to DJ, Montaj to MC and a few mates to dance on the Esplanade. But we got such a huge turnout for the first event that we decided to really take it seriously. I personally feel like there is a huge hip-hop and urban community in Cairns and that it needs an event like Stomp to show everyone how positive culture can be. Behind the scenes, it was me putting the majority of the event together and Montaj helping with MC’ing. Away from Stomp were all one big family.
How is the Cairns hip-hop and dance scene at the moment? Is it healthy?
The scene is purely amazing. I’m originally from Melbourne, but I’ve lived in Cairns for just over five years now and to me, this place has a bigger scene than Melbourne does. I mean you got ThreeSixFive crew, who deserve a major shout out, they even got into the top 100 in So You Think You Can Dance. Then there’s Stylin Techniques, AMAJ, Evident Supercrew and heaps more.
Which crews are taking part in this instalment of Stomp The Nard? Any dancers in particular we should look out for?
Honestly, there are too many to mention in one interview. But for a change this time around we will be giving out some awesome trophies for things like Most Memorable Dancer, Best Crowd Reaction, etc. My favourite from every Stomp has to be Mini Me, the dude has some serious skill and every year comes out with fresh moves. For those who don’t know who he is, check out the stomp website for some memorable moments.
Anything you’d like to say to the punters before this weekend’s show?
Definitely. I can’t stress this enough … show up early! Everyone who’s been to a Stomp knows how quickly the seats get filled and we do our best to accommodate everyone, but it is a case of first in, best dressed. Also don’t forget, anyone can come and battle on the day and there are some awesome prizes up for grabs including an Xbox 360 signed by The Pussycat Dolls.

Its definatly that time again! Its time to STOMP!
Everything is in place for this weekend of madness. Kicking off Saturday (Aug 22nd) with “Stomp the Club” @ Fabric Nightclub with Special Guest Dj Nino Brown (Australias Number One Urban Dj, Blazin Mixtape Series etc) & Cairns own Dj A.N.G smashing the decks apart playing you the freshest hiphop/rnb/mashups & more. With a percentage of doorfunds being donated to Stomp the Nard this event is one not to be missed. Come support a great event!
Then on Sunday (23rd August) we have the event that everyone has been waiting for… Stomp the Nard. This year being held at City Place in cairns. Kicking off @ 6pm so be sure to get in early to secure yourself a seat to see all the action of cairns finest dancers & crews battling it out. Theres plenty of prizes up for grabs including a Xbox 360 signed by the Pussycat Dolls & Clothing from Akomplice, Orisue & More. The event is totally free and all ages are welcome. Two hot new albums are about to drop! One being Beyonce’s “I Am Sasha Fierce” and the other being Tpain’s “Thr33 Rings”. The distinctive spelling used for T-Pains title may not hold any significance, other than the fact that it is his third album, or the number 3 is used to spell the word three, but the meaning behind the name carries weight. “It came from people telling me that I’m running the game, that I’m the ringleader of the game,” T-Pain says humbly. “That’s where the whole circus imagery came from. I started putting it together with the idea that the circus is just like the music industry. You’ve got your different acts, all of the different animals, etc.” He has extended this concept with his album and single covers, tailored to resemble carnival flyers, as well as with his music videos and style of dress. Most significantly, at the 2008 BET Awards, where he wore a flamboyant, silver and black, designer circus-ringleader outfit with a matching top hat and the MTV 2008 Video Music Awards, where he won #1 Best Entrance by arriving on an elephant.
